Chin and Cheek Implants

In our society, high cheekbones are an essential sign of beauty as is the well proportioned chin.  No everyone is born with these attributes and also, as a result of aging, there is decreased prominence of the cheekbones and chin. Many patients have Cheek and Chin implant surgery to correct flatness in the mid-face and to bring about correct chin prominence.  With these procedures, a specially designed synthetic implant is expertly placed over the natural bone.

Chin and cheek implants are frequently combined with a facelift to enhance its results.  Chin augmentation is also commonly combined with facial liposuction, where fat is removed from under the chin and from the neck.

What Are The Indications?

  • Small or disproportionate chin
  • Small or disproportionate cheeks

Am I A Candidate?

Patients who may be looking to create proportion in their face or in reconstructive surgery may find this procedure helpful.

What Can I Expect With Chin And Cheek Implants?

For the Cheek Implant , a small incision is made inside the mouth in the crease above the upper lip. A sterile implant, similar to the consistency of the natural cheekbone, is placed over the natural cheekbone to increase its projection. The implant is secured and the incision is sutured closed. With the Chin Implant , a small incision is either made under the chin or inside the mouth.

After healing, the implants conform to the bone and are generally undetectable. With the added projection of the chin, the nose will appear better proportioned to the face and there is significant improvement in appearance, especially in the profile. Likewise, the cheek implants will appear as natural high cheekbones
