Cynthia came to TopSurgeons looking to end the up-and-down weight rollercoaster ride that she had been on.

Nearly two months ago, Cynthia had the Lap Band procedure done and has since lost 22 pounds. With her weight around 240 pounds, and having described herself as heavy for the last six years, Cynthia is now on a ride to a healthier and happier self.

"People always say diets don't work," Cynthia commented. "I say all diets work...we don't work. Even though you lose the weight you always tend to put it back on over the next two years or so. It is the up-and-down that is so discouraging."

"Now that I've had it, I feel very encouraged," Cynthia continued. "I changed my eating habits on just the momentum that the Lap Band was doing for me."

Prior to Lap Band surgery, Cynthia said she didn't want to go out and didn't want to date.

"I know this is permanent thing which is very much to my liking," Cynthia said. "I was a little anxious, but more excited about it. I was in and out the same day."

Along with feeling better about herself, Cynthia notes that her pants and clothes are a lot more baggy now since having had Lap Band surgery, adding that she now has to wear a belt for her pants. "I walk now purposefully and walk just for the exercise," Cynthia added.

Cynthia's main point is that Lap Band surgery is not a gimmick, not a gimmick at all. "People who think it is a gimmick are uninformed," Cynthia remarked.

Cynthia adds that her ultimate weight loss is 90 pounds and she hopes to eventually be down to around 145-150 pounds when all is said and done.
